Leo and Jen: A Blog

A family in Raleigh, NC and random things they do

A Courthouse Wedding

Some friends of Leo’s just announced that they are married. They went down to the courthouse and made it official this week.

Leo and I are thinking of following suit.

Wake County Courthouse

Just kidding. We’ve talked about it and joked about it. But I’m pretty sure my friends and family (and our moms) would be royally teed if we didn’t allow them to witness this big moment in our lives. My dad has mentioned Vegas or a cruise ship, followed by a big reception at home, but I think he’s just kidding.

Maybe.

What do you think about doing a simple ceremony early? Have you ever attended one? I’m very curious.

I was all about keeping my wedding small and simple. The only way Amy and I agreed we could pull that off was to have a destination wedding. We figured that would weed out the people who come to weddings just to be polite but we weren’t really that close to or cared if they were there. And we didn’t want the wedding day to become about worrying if all the guests were having a good time. We wanted our day to actually be about us. It worked perfectly. We had a total of 40 people in Mexico, including Amy and I. That was the perfect number for the small chapel we married in. And then we were actually able to spend real time with every person who came. Simple is actually an awesome time.
