Let Them Eat Cake

The best part about planning this shindig is the free food. Especially cake.

Today, Leo and I visited Cinda’s Creative Cakes. We’d already scoped out the downtown Cupcake Shoppe, spending $14 for a consultation that came with cupcakes to taste. While they are happy to create a full-sized cake for us, we weren’t blown away and frankly, we weren’t sure their cake was yummy enough. Sure, it’s got to look good, but we have to eat this thing, too.

I’d heard about Cinda through a food tasting we’d done. Then, one of my bridesmaids chose Cinda for her upcoming November nuptials.

The best part about the affable Cinda is that she offers two free 6-inch cakes for your tasting (and take home) and you can pick the flavors. She also offers free anniversary cakes so you’re not forced to eat the cardboard version of your wedding dessert one year later.

Leo and I had NO CLUE how we wanted our cake to look at first. We knew what we don’t want: bows, flowers or pink. We spent some time online looking at photos to find inspiration and settled on a cityscape idea, thanks to this photo.

Cinda helped us take the idea and improve it, making it ours. After we discussed it all, we tried our DELICIOUS sample cakes. She offers everything from pina colada to cinnamon swirl to Oreo to S’mores. We chose white with raspberry filling for one, to give us an idea of the basic flavor. We also tried chocolate chip with ganache filling. YUM.

Both were moist, delicious and quickly devoured despite the fact that it was 10:30 a.m.

At our wedding, let them eat cake! Because it will be delectable.
