Day 1 – Arrival/Perth
It takes real fortitude to get to Perth from Raleigh. At least the way we came.
Four flights. Thirty-three hours of travel. Twenty-five hours of actual flight time. And we all know how much fun flying can be. I won’t rehash what dozens of comedians have already taught us about airline travel. But one observation: Once we arrived in Sydney and boarded our domestic Quantas flight, everything got better. Not only did they feed us TWICE on the five-hour flight, but the seats featured the plugs and personal TVs absent from the 16-hour monster across the Pacific.
The U.S. really needs to stop cutting back on flying amenities.
Anyway, Leo and I have proved our fortitude. Now we’re in Perth. After a bit of walking, we’re about to find a beer before succumbing to some serious jet lag. Hey, fortitude only goes so far.
Meanwhile, here’s one photo from our walk. Behind me are the Swan Bells, which originated in London and now ring in Perth.
