In late March, we had a trip planned to Washington DC for Rory’s spring break. We rode the train from Raleigh to DC’s Union Station and had a bunch of plans to explore the area in and around the national mall.
One evening, we spent time by the Anacostia River near the Navy Yards. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant by the water. As we thought about how to possibly get an item off the Lemon Cake list, we stumbled on La Famosa, a Puerto Rican restaurant that had flan on their dessert menu. Perfect!

We hadn’t had flan in years and it was Rory’s first flan. She was all over it!
