Back To East Raleigh In Style

Lots of exciting things happened this week. After looking at houses we’ve finally made an offer on one and as of today, we’re under contract. The house is back in the Thompson-Hunter neighborhood, an area of Raleigh where Jennifer and I have lived before and we can’t wait to move back.

We know the area well and we’re proud to put the money down to plant ourselves in this section of Raleigh. The location is great and we already have a vision of how we see ourselves living in this house.

Man, it will be great to host parties again. Raleigh people get ready.

Hi there! You don’t know me, but I found your blog by googling Thompson-Hunter. My husband and I just made an offer on a renovated home at 578 Cabarrus. We LOVE the house (well, house PLANS, because it’s currently a historically lovely shell) but our parents and siblings (all of whom live in Fuquay Varina or Apex) are going to HATE the neighborhood. I’ve done my reading online and driven the streets about 15x now, but nothing beats a real, live neighbor’s opinion. Do you enjoy it there? Do you feel safe? We have a 1 year old and are eager to walk everywhere! Is it feasible??

  We absolutely love the area. Yes, we feel safe because there’s always the chance to see neighbors around. That means there are eyes on the street. Sure, with any urban neighborhood, you have to have street smarts and Thompson-Hunter is no exception. Compared to a suburban neighborhood, this is an area where you want to see your neighbors rather than drive into a garage and stay away from them.
